This is a great compliment to any Bible study! I Love this book! Each book of the Bible is given due care. For example, Leviticus: This starts with a very simple foundational statement to show how Jesus is revealed in every book of the Bible: "Leviticus Portrays Jesus Christ, Our Sacrifice for Sin" then gives a chart of "Selected Bible Readings" for a week long study. Sunday: Leviticus 1 Burnt Offering. From here it goes into a breakdown of the book. Author, Date, Purpose and Summary. This is all just the first page! Turn the page and it gives a list of each of the ceremonial offerings and then a list of the ceremonial feasts. Now we go into pages of meat explaining chapter by chapter the purpose of Leviticus, who it speaks to and what is being said.
One paragraph I like says, "Isn't is strange that deep down in every heart there is a sense of guilt and the feeling of a need to do something to secure pardon or gain favor of the one wronged? Pagans bring their sacrifices to the altar of their gods, for they realize that they cannot do anything about their sins themselves." This is something that is really very true. It goes on to validate that sad truth in referencing real life events in that "some mothers in India would throw their babies into the river Ganges to appease their gods (The British colonial government tried to put a stop to this, but the practice continued for many years)." I think these little moments of reflection are so helpful in making us think and bringing deeper understanding.
Further we have a breakdown the offerings then sacrifices.
